Nerik

Nerik was a Hittite holy city in northern Anatolia, sacred to the storm god of Nerik, usually identified with the mound of Oymaağaç near Vezirköprü. The Kaska overran it in the 15th century BCE, and for generations the Hittite kings could not hold it. Hattusili III restored it in the 13th century BCE, and it remained an important cult centre.
