New Hampshire
New Hampshire is a state in New England, settled by the English from the 1620s along the Piscataqua river. Its towns were governed by Massachusetts from 1641 until it became a separate royal province in 1679. It disputed the lands west of the Connecticut River with New York, which became Vermont, and it was one of the thirteen colonies that formed the United States.
