Ntare IV of Ankole
Ntare IV, called Kitabanyoro, was a mugabe (king) of Ankole in south-western Uganda, remembered in tradition as a warrior king. His byname, meaning "killer of the Banyoro", recalls his victory over raiders from Bunyoro, the powerful northern neighbour that had long attacked Ankole. Under him the small kingdom east of Lake Edward began to grow.
