Nyabingi
Nyabingi is a spirit cult of the borderlands of Rwanda and south-western Uganda, centred on a female spirit associated in tradition with a queen of the kingdom of Ndorwa. Priestesses and mediums of the cult gained wide political influence, and between about 1910 and 1928 Nyabingi leaders such as Muhumusa inspired armed resistance to German, Belgian and British colonial rule in the Kigezi region. The name was later adopted by the Rastafari movement.
