Nyabela
Nyabela was king of the Ndzundza Ndebele in present-day Mpumalanga, South Africa. In 1882 he sheltered the Pedi rebel Mampuru II and refused to hand him over to the South African Republic, whose forces besieged his stronghold at KwaMaza for months. After his surrender in 1883 he was sentenced to death, commuted to life imprisonment, and the Ndebele lands were divided among Boer farmers. He was released in 1898.
