Occitania
Occitania is the historical region of southern France, with parts of Italy and Spain, where the Occitan language was spoken. In the twelfth and early thirteenth centuries the counts of Barcelona and kings of Aragon held lands and influence there, which ended with the Albigensian Crusade and the Treaty of Corbeil of 1258.
