Olaf II of Denmark

1370–1387 · 14th century · Also known as Olaf IV of Norway

Olaf II of Denmark, also Olaf IV of Norway, was the son of Haakon VI of Norway and Margaret, daughter of Valdemar IV of Denmark. Elected king of Denmark in 1376 as a child, he inherited Norway on his father's death in 1380, beginning the union of the two crowns that lasted until 1814. He died young in 1387, and his mother Margaret went on to unite all three Scandinavian kingdoms.
