Olinda
Olinda is a colonial town on the coast of Pernambuco, Brazil, founded in 1535 by the donatary Duarte Coelho as the capital of his captaincy. Rich from sugar, it was captured and burned by the Dutch in 1631, who favoured the nearby port of Recife. Its hilltop churches and convents form a World Heritage Site.
