Oranjestad, Sint Eustatius

Oranjestad is the capital and only town of Sint Eustatius, a Dutch island in the Caribbean. Its harbour below Fort Oranje, built by the Dutch from 1636, made it in the 18th century one of the busiest free ports of the Caribbean, nicknamed the Golden Rock, where traders supplied the American rebels with arms. Admiral Rodney's capture of the island in 1781 ended the boom.
