Orinoco
The Orinoco is one of the longest rivers of South America, flowing about 2,140 kilometres from the Guiana Highlands through Venezuela and along the Colombian border to a vast delta on the Atlantic. Its plains, the llanos, were a battleground of the independence wars, and its town of Angostura served as Bolívar's base. Early explorers sought the legendary El Dorado along its course.
