Oromo Liberation Front

1973 · 20th century · Also known as OLF

The Oromo Liberation Front is a political organisation founded in 1973 to pursue self-determination for the Oromo people of Ethiopia. It joined the Transitional Government formed after the fall of the Derg in 1991 but withdrew in 1992, accusing the EPRDF of persecution, and resumed armed struggle. Its leaders returned to Ethiopia from exile in 2018, though an armed wing continued fighting.
