Oromo migrations
The Oromo migrations were a large-scale expansion of Oromo-speaking pastoralists across the Horn of Africa from about 1565. They moved into lands weakened by the long war between Ethiopia and Adal. The migrations into Adal's lowland hinterland destroyed the territorial and economic base of the Adal Sultanate and permanently reshaped the region's demography.
