Eritrea

Eritrea is a country in the Horn of Africa on the Red Sea coast. The Aksumite Empire's port of Adulis lay there, and from the late nineteenth century it became Italy's first colony and a base for the Italian Empire's invasion of Ethiopia. It gained independence in 1993.
