Oued Righ
The Oued Righ is a valley of oases in the north-eastern Algerian Sahara, stretching for about 150 kilometres north of Touggourt. Its date palm groves were watered by artesian wells dug by specialist well-divers. From the 15th century to 1854 the oases were ruled by the Banu Djellab sultans of Touggourt, and under French rule new deep wells expanded cultivation.
