Paillon

The Paillon is a short Alpine river in south-eastern France that flows down from the hills behind Nice into the Mediterranean. In ancient times it separated the Greek port of Nikaia from the Ligurian hill country behind it. Since the 19th century its lower course through Nice has been covered over, and its route is now occupied by the city's gardens and avenues.
