Pedro IV of Kongo
Pedro IV was king of Kongo from 1695 to 1718, ruling from the mountain stronghold of Kibangu during the civil wars that followed the Battle of Mbwila. He worked to reconcile the rival royal houses and in 1709 reoccupied São Salvador, having earlier had the prophet Kimpa Vita, leader of the Antonian movement, burnt as a heretic in 1706.
