Pennines
The Pennines are a range of hills and moors running north and south through northern England, from the Peak District to the Tyne Gap near the Scottish border, and often called the backbone of England. They divide the north-west from the north-east and have long shaped settlement and communications, separating kingdoms and counties on either side.
