Barwick-in-Elmet

Barwick-in-Elmet is a village in West Yorkshire, England, east of Leeds. It keeps large earthworks of an Iron Age hillfort, later reused for a Norman motte, and its name recalls the British kingdom of Elmet, which survived in the area until the early 7th century.
