Pío Romero Bosque
Pío Romero Bosque was president of El Salvador from 1927 to 1931. Chosen as successor by the Meléndez–Quiñónez family, he broke with it and allowed freer political activity. The presidential election of 1931, won by Arturo Araujo, is regarded as the country's first free election, but it was followed within months by a military coup.
