Podgorica Assembly

November 1918 · 20th century

The Podgorica Assembly was a gathering of elected representatives that met in Podgorica in November 1918, at the end of the First World War. On 26 November it deposed King Nicholas I and the Petrović-Njegoš dynasty of Montenegro and voted for unconditional union with Serbia, soon part of the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes. Opponents considered it illegitimate, and the Christmas Uprising followed.
