Port of Saint Symeon
The Port of Saint Symeon was the harbour of Antioch at the mouth of the Orontes, near the ancient port of Seleucia Pieria and present-day Samandağ in Turkey. It took its name from the monastery of Saint Symeon the Stylite the Younger on a nearby mountain. Under the crusader princes of Antioch it was the main landing place for Italian merchants and pilgrims, until the Mamluks took Antioch in 1268.
