Požega is a town in the Slavonia region of eastern Croatia, in a fertile valley ringed by hills. A county seat of the medieval Kingdom of Hungary, it was taken by the Ottomans in 1537 and returned to Habsburg rule in 1688, after which it again became the seat of Požega County. It is the centre of a well-known wine-growing district.
