Slavonia
Slavonia is a historical region of eastern Croatia between the Drava, the Sava and the Danube, centred on Osijek. In the Middle Ages the name covered the lands between the Drava and Sava ruled by Hungary through a ban, and most of it fell to the Ottomans in the 16th century. Recovered by the Habsburgs in 1699, it was joined with Croatia in 1868 as the Kingdom of Croatia-Slavonia.
