Slavonic-Bulgarian History
The Slavonic-Bulgarian History is a short history of the Bulgarians written in 1762 by Paisius of Hilendar, a monk of the Hilandar Monastery on Mount Athos. Recalling the medieval Bulgarian tsars and saints, it urged Bulgarians to take pride in their language and past rather than adopt Greek culture. Spread in handwritten copies and first printed in 1844, it is regarded as the starting point of the Bulgarian National Revival.
