Przemyśl
Przemyśl is a city on the San river in south-eastern Poland, near the Ukrainian border. One of the Cherven towns, it was ruled by Rus' princes from the 11th century and was the seat of Volodar Rostyslavych, then part of the principalities of Galicia and Galicia-Volhynia before passing to Poland in the 1340s. Under Austria it became a great fortress, besieged by Russia in 1914 and 1915.
