Qian Chu

929–988 · 10th century

Qian Chu was the last king of Wuyue, the coastal kingdom around Hangzhou, reigning from 947 to 978. He helped the Song dynasty conquer Southern Tang and in 978 handed his entire kingdom to Song without a fight, so that Wuyue's lands were spared war. He was honoured with titles at the Song court for the rest of his life.
