Rafi ibn Makkan
Rafi ibn Makkan was an emir of the Banu Jami, an Arab family that ruled Gabès in southern Tunisia in the 12th century. Around 1117 he quarrelled with the Zirids of Mahdia over his merchant ship and appealed to Roger II of Sicily, an early step in the Norman intervention in North Africa.
