Ragged Guard
The Ragged Guard was a Hungarian irregular paramilitary force active after the First World War, made up largely of former officers, students and nationalist volunteers. In August 1921, when western Hungary was due to be handed over to Austria, its units attacked the Austrian gendarmes and held Burgenland, and its leaders proclaimed the Banate of Leitha. They withdrew after the Venice Protocol of October 1921.
