Records of the Three Kingdoms
The Records of the Three Kingdoms (Sanguo zhi) is the official history of the Three Kingdoms period of China (220–280 CE), written by Chen Shou in the late third century. Its accounts of the states of Wei, Shu and Wu, expanded by Pei Songzhi's fifth-century commentary, are the main source for the period and for the novel Romance of the Three Kingdoms. Its chapter on the eastern peoples is the earliest detailed description of Korea and Japan.
