Rímac River
The Rímac is a river of Peru's central coast that flows from the Andes through the centre of Lima to the Pacific at Callao. Its valley held the Maranga complex of the Lima culture and later shrines of the Ychsma, and Francisco Pizarro founded Lima on its south bank in 1535. Its name, from the Quechua for 'speaker', is linked to an oracle in the valley.
