Callao
Callao is the chief port of Peru, on the Pacific coast immediately west of Lima. Founded by the Spanish in 1537, it was the main port of the Viceroyalty of Peru, from which silver was shipped to Panama, and it was rebuilt after a tsunami destroyed it in 1746. Its Real Felipe fortress was the last royalist stronghold in South America, surrendering in January 1826.
