Cusco
Cusco is a city in the Andes of southern Peru, about 3,400 metres above sea level, which was the capital of the Inca Empire. Its palaces and temples, including the Coricancha, were rebuilt by the Spaniards after 1533 on Inca foundations, and the fortress-shrine of Sacsayhuamán stands above it. The city is a World Heritage Site.
