Curtis Island
Curtis Island is a large island off the coast of central Queensland, Australia, near the port of Gladstone. In the 1960s the Australian government proposed resettling the whole population of Nauru there, as phosphate mining was making their island uninhabitable, but the Nauruans rejected the offer because it did not give them sovereignty. It is now the site of liquefied natural gas plants.
