Roman Forum
The Roman Forum was the central public square of ancient Rome, in the valley between the Palatine and Capitoline hills. Drained and paved from the 7th century BCE, it became the centre of the city's political, religious and commercial life, surrounded by temples, basilicas, the Senate house and the speakers' platform, the Rostra.
