Sa die de sa Sardigna

1794 · 18th century · Also known as Sardinia Day

Sa die de sa Sardigna ('Sardinia's Day') is the regional holiday of Sardinia, held on 28 April. It commemorates the uprising of 28 April 1794 in Cagliari, when the people drove out the Piedmontese viceroy and officials after the court in Turin rejected the island's demands for a share in government. It was made an official regional day in 1993.
