Saco, Maine
Saco is a city in southern Maine, United States, on the Saco River near its mouth, opposite Biddeford. English fishermen and settlers arrived in the 1620s and 1630s, and it formed part of Sir Ferdinando Gorges's Province of Maine before Massachusetts absorbed the region in the 1650s. In the 19th century it grew as a textile mill town.
