Said Mohamed Cheikh
Said Mohamed Cheikh was a Comorian politician who led the islands' government under French rule. When the Territory of the Comoros gained internal autonomy in 1961 he became head of its government council, holding the post until his death in 1970. His period in office saw the capital moved from Dzaoudzi on Mayotte to Moroni on Grande Comore, a decision long resented on Mayotte.
