Moroni
Moroni is the capital and largest city of the Comoros, on the west coast of Grande Comore. A Shirazi-founded coastal town of the Bambao sultanate, it replaced Dzaoudzi on Mayotte as capital of the French territory of the Comoros in the early 1960s and became capital of the independent country in 1975. Its old medina and Friday mosque face the harbour.
