San Miguel de Lillo

9th century · 9th century

San Miguel de Lillo is a church on Mount Naranco above Oviedo, built under Ramiro I of Asturias around 842–850, near the hall of Santa María del Naranco. Only part of the original building survives, with carved door jambs showing circus scenes copied from a Byzantine consular diptych. It is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Monuments of Oviedo and the Kingdom of the Asturias.
