Oviedo
Oviedo is the capital of Asturias in northern Spain. Founded around 761 under Fruela I, it was made the permanent royal seat by Alfonso II the Chaste in the early 9th century and remained the capital of the Kingdom of Asturias until the court moved to León in the early 10th century. Its cathedral and Cámara Santa hold relics that made it a stop on the pilgrimage roads to Santiago.
