San Pedro Mártir River
The San Pedro Mártir is a river of northern Guatemala and south-eastern Mexico that flows west from the Petén lowlands into Tabasco to join the Usumacinta. In the Classic period it was a trade route between the Gulf lowlands and the central Petén, guarded by the Maya city of Waka' (El Perú) on an escarpment above it. Much of its Guatemalan course lies in Laguna del Tigre National Park.
