Santa Maria Capua Vetere

Santa Maria Capua Vetere is a town in Campania, Italy, on the site of ancient Capua, once the largest city of southern Italy. Its remains include a great Roman amphitheatre, second in size only to the Colosseum, and a painted Mithraeum. The gladiator revolt of Spartacus began in a training school there in 73 BCE.
