Semigallians

The Semigallians were a Baltic people of Semigallia, the plain of central Latvia and northern Lithuania. They resisted the German crusaders of Livonia for most of the 13th century, defeating them several times under leaders such as Viesturs and Nameisis, before submitting by 1290. Many then moved south into Lithuania, and the remainder merged into the Latvian nation.
