Sharafuddin of Selangor

b. 1945 · 20th century · Also known as Sharafuddin Idris Shah

Sharafuddin Idris Shah is the ninth Sultan of Selangor, who succeeded his father Salahuddin in 2001. Born in 1945, he heads one of the nine Malay royal houses whose rulers take turns to serve as Malaysia's king. As sultan he is the constitutional head of Selangor and the head of Islam in the state.
