Shinkolobwe

Shinkolobwe is a uranium and radium mine in the Haut-Katanga province of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, discovered in 1915 and worked by Union Minière du Haut Katanga. Its exceptionally rich ore supplied most of the uranium used by the Manhattan Project. The mine was officially closed after independence.
