Shuisky family
The Shuiskys were a Russian princely family descended from the Rurikid princes of Suzdal and Nizhny Novgorod, who entered Muscovite service in the fifteenth century. During the minority of Ivan IV they led the boyar factions that struggled for power after 1538, ruling by violence until Ivan had Andrei Shuisky killed in 1543. Vasily Shuisky became tsar as Vasily IV in 1606 during the Time of Troubles and was deposed in 1610.
