Somnath temple
The Somnath temple is a Hindu temple of Shiva on the coast of Saurashtra in Gujarat, India, revered as the first of the twelve jyotirlingas. Mahmud of Ghazni sacked it in 1025, and it was rebuilt and destroyed several times in the following centuries. Ahilyabai Holkar built a new temple nearby in 1783, and the present temple was rebuilt on the original site after Indian independence and inaugurated in 1951.
