Holkars

The Holkars were a Maratha ruling family who governed Indore in central India. They were one of the major chiefly houses, alongside the Scindias, Gaekwads and Bhonsles, that held power in the Maratha confederacy. Factionalism among these chiefs weakened central authority and contributed to the decline of the Maratha Empire.
