Stones of Mora

Also known as Mora stenar

The Stones of Mora was the place in a meadow south-east of Uppsala where medieval Swedish kings were elected and acclaimed by representatives of the provinces. Royal elections are recorded there from the late thirteenth to the fifteenth century. The original stone has been lost, and a small building of 1770 now houses later commemorative stones.
