Stone of Scone

Also known as Stone of Destiny

The Stone of Scone, or Stone of Destiny, is a block of red sandstone on which Scottish kings were inaugurated at Scone. Edward I took it to Westminster Abbey in 1296 as a sign of his conquest, and it was built into the Coronation Chair used for English and British monarchs. It was returned to Scotland in 1996 and since 2024 has been displayed in Perth, near its original home.
